I think you just can't wait to have these SP to have some skill that you always wanted earlier than planned. My answers may be silly to you, but again, you'll understand them later, when you'll have all the SP you ever wished so fast, and will have nothing else to do.
*facepalm* you have lost this one. Just go eat a taco or something. I have to side with that techmeds scrub on this one.

*facepalm* you have lost this one. Just go eat a taco or something. I have to side with that techmeds scrub on this one. It's already hard to find skills to put SP in, so much more SP will just accelerate the boredom. Side with whoever you want john, I respect and understand your point, you just dont really see mine.
I see yours but this whole "choices must matter" ect... It was a good argument 1 year ago but not anymore. Besides you can only use one suit, one gun. Your choice in what you skilled into only counts for a few minutes or however long you are alive in a match. Then when you die at 20m-30m sp you can pick from a countless number of other variations in dropsuit load outs. And that choice will last another few minutes... Forcing noobs to be locked into noob status for so long makes no sense. I won't suddenly become over powered because I can unlock one more gun next week. I already am overpowered in skill. And I already have several guns and dropsuits. If I get a new proto gun and use them all evenly then I only have a 1 out of 6th chance of using that particular weapon, compared to a noob who gets his second gun doubling his choices. being locked into these choices and waiting for over a year to actually get anywhere in this game has done nothing but hold this game back by preventing new players from integrating into the game easily.
Choices and being forced to be locked into skills matter even less since the legion announcement. Alot of people left, and the over all feelings of the playerbase was negative... Drastic changes needed to be made. Ratatti is doing an amazing job at turning things around but this game still has it's flaws.
1. New player experience has always been bad. The new player academy was a fail, and the massive sp gap kept making new players rage and want to quit.... Sure there are other things CCP can do but the dev team for dust got alot smaller as many were transferred to legion. Them increasing the cap is just an easy quick fix because they do not have the manpower to do much else.
2. After 30m+ sp things balance out alot more as a player will have a proto suit and many of their passives. I am forgetting how much passive sp we get but combined with the active sp I am guessing around 1mill a week? A completely free player still has to wait half a year.... Xp events can help but it won't be as difficult for them as in the past.
3. Those who pay, are paying for the server to be kept alive. Stacking sp is just another money making ploy by CCP but again after a certain point... sp starts to be worth less and less. I will be glad more and more people are reaching my level of sp. It would mean for more diverse and competitive matches. Which is fun by my definition.
4. So what if I become a vet with everything unlocked and no more goals? Do I really have to be that obsessed with unlocking new things? I came here to play a game, not grind. One could argue that those are the same thing... but to me the difference is.. Playing is fun, grinding is not. With that said.. If ccp is increasing the gap, I hope they are also increasing ways to earn sp to fill that gap or else the game will be even more of a boring grind. Some people force themselves to cap because they feel like they need to if they want to stay competitive or ever catch up.. Increasing the grind will only burn them out faster so I really do hope they increase the ways of earning sp and not just the cap.
5. I would play this game more if the player base did not completely suck so much. Sp does not equal skill but it does act as a crutch. A bad player in proto is still a bad player, they are just bad with a crutch. Honestly I don't mind. If this ends up giving me more competitive games then I am all for it. Competition makes this game fun for me. If you are not doing serious damage to me, I am not having fun. If I am drinking a beer, not paying attention to a game, and still coming in 1st for wp and kdr... I am not having fun. If you are bored by not having anything to skill into, then maybe what you need is a challenge? Maybe this will provide you with just that opportunity. I know that is what I am hoping for.
6. I am trying to look at the bigger picture. I am trying to look at what is best for the game overall. How can this game have hundreds of people signing up a day with almost a 0 retention rate? All my friends I have introduced this game too refuse to play after trying it for just a short time. NPE is bad and it is destroying this game. Fix NPE and numbers may increase, meaning profits increase, meaning servers stay on longer, meaning more funds to be put forth into more maps, more bpo's and dropsuit designs, more bug fixes and content.
7. We need to let go of this whole 10 year plan and choices must matter stuff. Holding on to these old archaic ideals and beliefs will only force us to continue on this downhill slope the game has been on. A change had to have been made and it should have been made a long time ago. But better late than never right?
